Man with a Tatoo, 2007
Photographic series- C-Type Prints, each 75 x 105 (cm)

A photographic series of a tattoo on a man's back that gradually fades into darkness. The tattoo takes the form of a dagger, an eagle and a map of Palestine, all at once. The tattoo speaks of a dual play of a yearning to exist and existing to resist forgetfulness. The placement of the images in a ‘directed’ sequence speaks of a fading memory and a fading symbolism but likewise begs the question of fascistic authorship in directing/dictating the reading of image. The work is part of a larger attempt at documenting nationalistic tattoos and investigating the place of patriotic symbols in the procreation of nationalism.
